Being a girl and playing rugby in an Islamic country is not an easy task. Even in a place like Morocco, with its more modern approach to Islam, these sports are the exclusive of men. The girls of the all-female AMAR rugby team come from different social backgrounds and face many obstacles imposed by family and society to pursue their sporting passion. For these girls, rugby is a declaration of independence. Each game is about much more than beating the other team; the real, ultimate victory is regaining self-confidence, personal freedom and a leading role in Islamic society.
