GÜLE GÜLE

Güle Güle (goodbye in Turkish) is a personal project focused on the city of Istanbul. The photographs derive from multiple relationships to penetrate the complexity of the city in a dramatic moment of social and political mutation. Gentrification, the marginalisation of the poorer classes, the increasing discrimination of homosexuality, the massive influx of Syrian refugees and the issue of the Kurdish community are just some of the realities that are behind the subjects portrayed. The non-linear, non-didactic, direct visual approach is the result of what the city has given back to us, the unstoppable energy that the current regime fears and has been trying to suppress for years.
